Trusted experience. Proven success. Unmatched service.
“Courage isn't the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.”- Nelson Mandela. This month as a Firm we honor and remember the heroes who tragically lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Their courage should never be forgotten. We have a deep appreciation for the sacrifices of our first responders in times of community needs and crisis. Thank you for your service. My husband proudly served our community for 17 years with the Melbourne Fire Department before retiring in 2021.

Hurricane & Homeowners Insurance:
For Florida homeowners, Fall brings two major concerns: home insurance and hurricanes. The state's home insurance market is gradually becoming more stable, but it is still one of the most expensive in the country. This is a problem made worse by hurricane season, which runs from June to November and peaks in September. Many homeowners who cannot find a private insurer turn to Citizens Insurance, a state-backed provider. Citizens Insurance rates changed in June, with the new rates varying based on region and risk.
State Farm Bad Faith Lawsuit:
Following a tragic 2021 car crash in Key West that resulted in a death, a Florida jury awarded the victim's family a $7.5 million judgment. The lawsuit against the at-fault driver's estate claimed the driver was intoxicated and caused the fatal collision. This case serves as a message to the insurance industry about accountability and the legal consequences of bad-faith actions.
New Florida Law Impacts Affordable Housing:
A new Florida law called YIGBY ("Yes In God's Back Yard") allows religious organizations to build affordable housing on their property, even if the land is not zoned for it. The law, which aims to simplify the development process, is not mandatory for localities. The Florida Housing Coalition estimates it could open up over 30,000 parcels of land for housing. Some cities, like St. Petersburg, are creating rules to implement the law, while others are handling projects on a case-by-case basis. At least 10% of the homes in these projects must be affordable for households earning up to 120% of the area's median income.
